New Technologies Campus
The "key" to retaining a vibrant long term economy...
The proposed "New Technologies Campus" ( NTC ) has the potential of becoming the Midwest's ( new ) "Silicon Valley" & "Entertainment Arts Capital". ( NTC ) THE MIDWEST'S NEW HIGH-TECH HUB...
FOCUSING ON TOMORROW'S JOBS AND TECHNOLOGY":
From it's energy-efficient domed classrooms to it's emphasis upon tomorrow's most in-demand high tech occupations, NTC grads will enter the workforce fully prepared to excel. NTC will serve as an "economic anchor" by keeping these kids "rooted" to our area. NTC: AN "ECONOMIC ANCHOR" High-paying, stable jobs capable of supporting young growing families translates into a booming economy and multi-generational growth!
Stopping the "brain drain" - retaining our youth.
It's a serious problem in small Ozark towns. Highschool grads moving to the "Big City" ( i.e: St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, etc. ) to follow their career aspirations. Our area is no different! Some local teens are looking for career opportunities OUTSIDE of factory work, menial labor and low wage retail and service jobs. They know they won't find work in the arts, entertainment, communications, media, biotech, science and other high tech fields here - so they pack their bags and move on. Our area loses. The big cities win. Wouldn't it be nice if we could retain our youth and give them a good reason to stay here?
The New Technologies Campus ( NTC ) is that answer...
NTC is the "key" to keeping ALL of our youth here. Not just the factory and menial laborers and service industry teens but the creative arts, entertainment and geeky, nerdy ( technology oriented ) kids as well!
WHAT KIND OF JOBS?
Like NASA's Apollo Program, which spawned many of the advances we benefit from today -NTC will focus upon the skills required by tomorrow's careers and industries. Skills that are newly emerging and that have become almost "standardized" in the film and entertainment industries.
And some that have not.
( -ABOVE ) TOMORROW'S CAREERS!
Things like 3-D computer animation, gaming & app coding, holographic and VR optics. Drone, mo-cap and green screen photography. As well as OTHER exciting fields such as 3-D printing/ manufacturing, bio-med, alternative energy, frequency medicine and "disaster-resilient" home construction, film-making, photogrammetry, sound-engineering, music synthesis, audio engineering and OTHERS.
Like NASA's ( 1960's ) space program, these groundbreaking "spin-offs" and tech breakthroughs represent some of tomorrow's most promising career paths. The kind we ought to be bringing to Southwest Missouri! My proposed NTC would accomplish this.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY TO BUILD NTC COME FROM?
From area Corporate Sponsors ( -who see the promotional and PR benefits of "naming" the com-lex's departments and buildings ). Such sponsors also know that cultivating a tech-savvy work-force benefits their company ( -ABOVE ) GREEN-SCREEN "MO-CAP" AND the community in general. The fact that their employees will be able to attend the campus FREE -learning new cutting-edge skills that benefit their company's "bottom lines" doesn't hurt either!
AMPING UP THE "FUN FACTOR"
In Phase 3 of it's development, the NTC Complex will open it's doors to the general public as an exciting tourism destination ( -like Hollywood's Universal Studio Tours ). The complex's studios, outdoor and period ( -ABOVE ) "DINOSAUR GORGE" "street sets" and other attract- ions will bring in additional revenue dollars to the campus. One such attraction would be the "Dinosaur Gorge River Escape" log flume ride ( -combining the exhilaration of a white water log flume ride with the white knuckle terror of rafting past a forest full of interactive Jurassic era animatronic dinosaurs! ). Not only will such attractions bring in new revenue to the complex, they will give NTC students direct "hands-on" experience working with the complexes' high-tech animatronic systems!
"SELF-SUSTAINING":
FEATURING A MULTIPLICITY
OF "INCOME STREAMS"
While local area residents
will be able to attend NTC at a
low nominal fee, students from outside of the area will pay full tuition. This represents just ONE of NTCs many "income streams". ( -ABOVE ) ANIMATRONICS SCHOOL
SEAMLESS "WORKFORCE INTEGRATION" The availability of such high tech training and facilities will attract students and families from around the country just as LA's UCLA Film School has done for decades. . CUTTING-EDGE CLASSROOMS Apart from it's cutting-edge training opportunities, the campus would be a fully functional motion-picture and computer animation complex ( -producing it's own films, animated features, TV shows, software and game titles ). This in-fact, would be NTC's primary "income stream"
( -along with producing affordable disaster-resilient prefab housing and a new generation of self-contained energy systems and products ). Upon graduating NTC students could seamlessly integrate into the Campus' skilled workforce of builders, architects, energy specialists, film professionals, animators and software coders -keeping this high paid "talent pool" right here in Southwest Missouri!
A "Business Incubator" Industrial Park. So NTC grads can launch their "start up" businesses right on Campus!
One of the most exciting parts of the NTC Campus will be it's "Business Incubator" Industrial Park. Within easy walking distance of the main NTC campus. This is where the area's young entrepreneurial minds will be able to test, refine and launch their fledgling "start-up" companies...
( -LEFT )
NTC's INDUSTRIALPARK...
A ( 60-acre ) Domed Industrial Park - right on-campus ( -where NTC grads can take their dreams and launch them as fledgling "start-ups" ).
An NTC "INCUBATOR" BRAINSTORM SESSION...
Taking NTC skills and applying them. Launching their own fledgling "start-up" businesses right on the
NTC Campus!
( -ABOVE ) SPARKING ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT!
Once graduating, NTC grads will be able to launch their own fledgling "start up" companies right on campus. Operating, building, servicing
and manufacturing everything from:
* BOUTIQUE HIGH-END COMPUTERS * ALTERNATIVE ENERGY DEVICES * RIFE FREQUENCY & BIO-MED DEVICES * ROBOTICS * ANIMATRONICS
* MOTION-PICTURE & COMPUTER ANIMATION STUDIOS * HOLOGRAPHICS
* ( GAMING & COMPUTER APP ) CODING LABS * VIRTUAL REALITY OPTICS * ( DISASTER-RESILIENT ) SCIP, COMPOSITE MATERIAL BLOCK, LIGHT GAUGE STEEL and 3D PRINTED "SMART HOMES" * LASER DEVICES * ELECTRONIC MUSIC, SOUND REINFORCEMENT, RECORDING & CONSUMER ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING...
and a whole host of OTHER emerging technologies taught at NTC!
By making the "Incubator's" low rent bays available to these spirited young NTC entrepreneurs - SW Mo. will help to CREATE it's own future prosperity ( -smartly investing in it's youth and their enterprises -which in turn will employ even more residents benefitting our region's economy! ). ( -ABOVE ) CREATING FUTURE PROSPERITY
A "NEW RESOURCE" FOR SOUTHWEST MO. & BEYOND:
NTC would be open to all SW. Mo. area residents ( 17-yrs & older ). Apart from college students, NTC would welcome laid-off middle aged workers or others who've experienced "age dis- ( -ABOVE ) DRONE PILOT crimination" ( or ) who simply want to switch to better paying careers! Active seniors would also be welcome to learn tomorrow's tech skills!
( -RIGHT ) ROBOTICS SKILLS By addressing the needs of ALL of SW Mo's workforce ( -not just youth ), we can maximize the potential of our community and it's residents. That translates into a "re-energized" economy for all. Who doesn't want that? HIGH-TECH SKILLS AT ANY AGE!
New "Smarter" Building & Alternative Energy Innovation
To boost our region's economy and to innovate in the fields of housing and energy, NTC will research, develop and manufacture ( new ) cutting edge Alternative Energy systems ( i.e: Closed-Loop Hydro, Cold Fusion, etc. ). Local home builders will be invited to learn and master ( 5-6 ) of today's "smartest" most robust "disaster-resilient" home construction techniques ( -allowing crews to gain valuable "hands on" experience with these building methods - by participating in the construction and maintenance of this ( 5-6 display home ) "Disaster-Resilient Home Park".
*-See the illustration below. The Park will showcase SCIP Panel ( GCT ), ICCF ( Perfect Block ), CMB or Composite Material Block, Monolithic Dome, Econel Panel and CF Steel Frame construction methods.
( -ABOVE ) UNIQUE ONE-OF-A-KIND "DISASTER RESILIENT HOME PARK!" Would allow home-hunting vacationers visiting Central Missouri to "test drive" ( 5-6 ) different disaster-resilient home models -to decide which
is best for them, by booking a night or two stay in the home ( s ) of their choice. A novel way to both vacation and house-hunt at the same time!
Area builders participating in the park's construction would gain some valuable experience in these new construction methods - allowing them to offer these ( new ) "smarter" home options to the growing number of savvy home buyers ( -who are looking for something better than yesterday's disaster-prone "stick and brick" homes ).
FANTASY WORLDS AND REAL WORLD SKILLS...
As mentioned above, in NTC's later development stages -the complex will also serve as a tour- ism destination and theme park. To accommodate this, imaginative outdoor landscapes and period "street sets" will need to be created. ( -ABOVE ) MOUNTAIN LANDSCAPE
These landscape backdrops and period "street sets" ( i.e: "Western Town", "NYC Street", "Future City", "Colonial Town" and "Medieval Street" ) will also serve as "sets" for NTC's film students and the Campus' professional film teams. They will be able to shoot almost any scene... ( -ABOVE ) HYDRO-POWERED WATERFALL from any historical "period" -without having to leave the NTC Campus! And these backdrops and "street sets" can also be leased to outside production companies ( -giving NTC even more "income streams" with which it can support itself! ). And once again, the building, maintenance and repair of these "sets" will afford NTC's students a myriad of "hands on" learning experiences ( -as well as stimulate our area's carpentry, electrical and other trades ).
PRINCESS LEIA WOULD LOVE NTC's HOLOGRAPHY CLASS!
Holographics, lasers and 3-D virtual-reality technology. Just some of the science based skills SW. Mo. natives could be learn-ing at NTC. Such skills lead to high-paying jobs, a burgeoning economy and a bright future!
( -RIGHT ) NTC'S V.R. LABS
SCIP Home Building workshops. Film and Animation studios. Virtual-reality optics labs. "Hands on" robotics and animatronics laboratories. Sound stages. Recording studios. Outdoor and period "street sets". Tours. Rides. Some of NTC's "coming attractions"? ( -ABOVE ) NTC'S V.R. LAB It's up to SW Missouri's leaders. Do they have the foresight and "vision" to re-imagine the area's future with "NTC"?
NTC AMPITHEATER
Another attraction drawing tourism dollars to the area could be NTC's outdoor amphitheater ( -hosting yearly film festivals and concerts by NTC students... ( -ABOVE ) NTC AMPITHEATER as well as nationally known artists ). The 10,000-seat outdoor complex would add a new entertainment venue to SW. Mo. and serve as yet another "income stream" supporting NTC's normal "day-to-day" operations.
NTC: DEDICATED TO MAKING THE WORLD "A BETTER PLACE"
NTC will make motion-pictures, animated features and game titles spanning a wide gamut of genres. Sci-fi thrillers, action adventures, dramas, historical documentaries. You name it! UNLIKE Hollywood, NTC's films and game titles... HOLLYWOOD'S "DARKNESS"
will "emphasize the positive" -providing kids with positive role models. In today's scary world of car-jackings, mass shootings and terrorism NTC will be a part of the solution NOT a part of the problem!
FINALLY: A SAFE HAVEN!
Imagine a film and game devel-opment studio that produces positive movies and games your entire family can watch! NTC is THAT studio! LNTC = "FAMILY FRIENDLY"
HIGH STANDARDS:
High standards would be expected of all NTC students. Students would be required to undergo a criminal "background check" ( -to ascertain if
they have a criminal record or if they affiliate with anyone who does ), keeping NTC a safe, crime-free campus. NTC students would sign an agreement stating that: "they will not engage in any behavior or activity -on or off campus -that disrupts campus life or that brings dishonor to the campus ( -with a failure to uphold this pledge being grounds for dismissal ).
A SAFE CAMPUS:
The above, combined with the welcoming of lawful "conceal carry" students ( -who've passed both CC and NTC "background checks" ) and the presence of NTC's professionally-trained, armed security team -would ensure a safe, crime-free campus for all. Students should not be distracted from learning by having to worry about their safety!
Map of Southwest Mo's ( proposed ) "NTC" Complex
These are some of the features NTC might offer. WHICH features do you like best?
LETTER: To City Managers & Mayors of progressive, forward-thinking SW. Mo. towns ( -and to Missouri's Governor and News Media )...
Forward-thinking SW. Mo. Communities & Missouri Governor ;
I'm proposing the creation of a bold, new project for Southwest Missouri. One that could transform our region and Missouri's economic future
for generations to come. I call it the "New Technologies Campus" ( -or "NTC" for short ).
"NTC" would offer SW. Mo. and Missouri residents the opportunity to learn some of today's most lucrative "in-demand" skills. Skills that have been "spun-off" from today's entertainment and film industries. Skills such as: 3D computer-animation, software coding, robotics and animatronics.
As well as some unrelated to the entertainment industry.
For example: "disaster resilient" SCIP home building, closed loop hydroelectric and cold fusion energy generation. These represent
some of tomorrow's most promising technologies and highly paid
fields. Shouldn't Southwest Mo. and our state be investing in it's
most important resource - it's PEOPLE? We can and SHOULD by
training our workforce to meet these future career challenges!
Aside from being a film arts and sciences campus, "NTC" would also be a fully functional movie-production, animation and game development studio ( -where "NTC" grads could seamlessly integrate into a profess-ional work environment on the same campus they graduated from ), thereby keeping this "talent pool" right here in Southwest Missouri!
Over time, "LNTC" could become the Midwest's premier motion-picture, animation and game development "hub" ( -rivaling Hollywood ) as well
as the Midwest's hub for high-tech innovation ( -rivalling Silicon Valley ). Our region could in fact, become the "economic engine" of not ONLY Southwest Missouri but the Midwest!
There's no doubt the Campus will be expensive - requiring a footprint
of approximately 250 acres and require considerable "start up" capital. However, as demonstrated above - this initial investment would
become "self-sustaining" via a myriad of income streams.
Most importantly, "NTC" would pay off bigtime in the years to come
( -benefitting SW Mo. and Missouri's youth, workforce and general economy ).
Take a look at the "NTC" web page:

I'd be interested in hearing what OTHER Laclede Countians think of this idea. I'll post a representative "sampling" of the comments ( -make them short, concise and to the point -no longer than a sentence ( or ) two at most ), I receive ( -leaving your first name, followed by the letter initial
of your last name along with your city, i.e: "Donna B. -Lebanon", if you'd
like me to post your comment on this page ).
